A Good Work
We begin to believe what the Word of God says about us as we grow closer to Christ. As a new believer, we learn about Jesus and the works that he performed. As we mature in Christ, we begin to see things in a different way.
According to the bible, Philippians 1:6 tells us as follows: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. In the beginning of our walk with Christ, you could say that we were Baby Christians.
As new Christians, we heard that Jesus was the answer to the many things going on in our lives. Every Christian is given a measure of faith. It is up to us as Christians to grow in the Word of the Lord. Many Christians profess the Word of God and believe it in their hearts but continue with the same troubles that were present when they first got saved.
The bookstores are filled with books pertaining to finding our purpose. Many people just want to know what their purpose is in this life. Before we can even begin to think about our purpose, we must understand who we are.
When we became believers, we became new creatures. It may not look that way at first, but as we grow into mature Christians, we find that we do not like the things that we once liked. We may change the way we dress and even change who we socialize with. This is because when we become saved, we invite Jesus Christ to live and dwell within us.
You will begin to reflect his presence. You will begin to look like your Father. You will begin to look like peace, joy, and love.
As a child of God, we receive benefits in terms of grace and mercy. We become blessed and highly favored. When we begin to put our trust in God, things begin to change for us. For some of us, it is hard to surrender the control factor. Some of us want to be in control of certain areas of our lives. We may want the Lord to take control of our health, but not our bank account. We may want him to take control of our marriage or spouse, but not of our habits. We must learn to give everything to him.
As we continue to grow, our experiences become testimonies. We can truly say that we had situations or troubles in the past, but the Lord brought us through them all. He not only began a good work, but he began a good work in you.
